Blowing Bubbles In The Rain
Blowing Bubbles In The Rain
Date Painted:
One afternoon, I was walking home along the Southbank in the rain. Outside the Tate Modern, a man had set up with some string and sticks, making enormous bubbles that floated across the pavement. The kids nearby went wild, chasing them through the drizzle, jumping and laughing as the bubbles burst in flashes of colour. It was such a simple scene, but it stopped everyone in their tracks. Blowing Bubbles In The Rain is about that moment - colour against concrete, play in the middle of the city, joy in the everyday.
